Morphometric Analysis of the Sockets for the Upper Temporary Molar Teeth in Human Foetuses International Journal of Morphology
Farah,Ghaus; Faruqi,N. A.
Foetal therapy has made foetal anatomy a promising field. Maxilla had been the core research attraction of many scientists. Alveolar arches, specially the maxillary one had been consistently the focus of attention for research workers due to its importance in dentistry. Twenty nine human foetuses were grouped into I (<24 weeks of IUL), II (25-30 weeks of IUL) and III (>30 weeks of IUL). Maxillae were dissected out and sockets were carefully cleaned. Sockets for the temporary molars, which also hold permanent premolars were measured with the help of Vernier callipers. Three parameters, i.e. maximum mesiodistal diameter, maximum transverse diameter and maximum depth were considered. Readings were analysed statistically by using Student's 't' test....

Morphometric evaluation of nitric oxide synthase isoforms and their cytokine regulators predict pulmonary dysfunction and survival in systemic sclerosis BJMBR
Parra,E.R.; Aguiar Junior,A.C.; Silva,L.O.; Souza,H.S.P.; Espinoza,J.D.; Capelozzi,V.L..
Because histopathological changes in the lungs of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) are consistent with alveolar and vessel cell damage, we presume that this interaction can be characterized by analyzing the expression of proteins regulating nitric oxide (NO) and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) synthesis. To validate the importance of alveolar-vascular interactions and to explore the quantitative relationship between these factors and other clinical data, we studied these markers in 23 cases of SSc nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (SSc-NSIP). We used immunohistochemistry and morphometry to evaluate the amount of cells in alveolar septa and vessels staining for NO synthase (NOS) and PAI-1, and the outcomes of our study were cellular and...

Morphometric Examination of Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) from the Van-Yoncatepe Necropolis in Eastern Anatolia International Journal of Morphology
Onar,Vedat; Belli,Oktay; Owen,Pamela R..
In the burial chamber M4 of the Van-Yoncatepe necropolis in eastern Anatolia, dated to the beginning of the first millennium before our time, fox skeletal remains have been discovered together with human skeletal remains. The fox remains consist of two skulls and a large number of skeletal (postcranial) bones. Examination of the material led us to the conclusion that five foxes had been buried in the chamber. Craniometric and osteometric measurements were carried out on the bones, and estimations of shoulder height and body weight have been calculated. Evaluation of all quantitative and qualitative data and comparison with modern fox species led to identification of the remains as red fox (Vulpes vulpes)
